It’s Official – Ziplines are Open

With the help of some very large scissors, French Broad Rafting & Ziplines became official on Thursday! Tammie Whitlock, representing the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, and Ashley Runnion, representing the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce joined us to initiate the business and celebrate the official opening of the ziplines.

FBRZ owners Korey Hampton, Michael Hampton, and Mitch Hampton cut the ceremonial ribbons from both chambers to mark the Grand Opening of the new joint rafting and zipline business. As members of both chambers of commerce, FBRZ is proud to be bringing another fun recreational activity to the mountains.

Zipline trips have been running for a couple of weeks, and rafting season has been underway since early Spring. Now that the ribbon has been cut, we’re ready for a fun-filled season. Come on out and find your adventures this season!

Friends and Family Day

We wrapped up zipline guide training with a “soft opening” for friends and family recently. We invited our rafting staff and their families out to the new zipline course and what an amazing time we had! After working so hard on our course all winter it was very rewarding to see so many people (83 of them!) having fun out there. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it all worth it. We are looking forward to an amazing season.

Course Inspection a Success!

Phoenix Experiential Designs was here this weekend for our course inspection. Phoenix is a Professional Vendor Member of the Association for Challenge Course Technologies (ACCT) based out of Sugar Grove, NC. The ACCT sets the standards for design, performance, equipment, inspections, operations, practitioner certification and training in the zipline and challenge course industry. We are happy to report that we met or exceeded all of the standards set forth for construction of a zipline canopy tour. In fact, Robbie Oates of Phoenix was quoted as saying; “great course – you guys passed with flying colors!”. We are thrilled – new zipline guide training begins next week.

French Broad Ziplines – Opening Spring 2013

We at French Broad Rafting are pleased to announce that we will be opening a zipline canopy tour in the spring of 2013. The mountain property adjacent to our rafting outpost is the perfect setting for a tree-based course with hearty trees, gorgeous views and fresh mountain air. We began construction this past fall and are moving right along in the process. Ziplines are going up and excitement is at an all-time high here. The course is slated to be 8 ziplines ranging in distance from 420′-1000′ with rappels, short hikes and even a UTV ride! We are looking forward to seeing you all in the trees this season. More to come later, but for now: a short video of one of our installers testing a line..
