Five years ago today our family business lost “everything” in a fire. Funny how things work though – turns out we “found” so much more that fateful day. In the sometimes difficult years that followed we have found comfort, strength and support in the countless friends, staff, customers and community that make the French Broad Rafting family so special.

Today as we reflect on the amazing things we have all accomplished, we are thankful for every last one of you. On this day we are in a much better place than we were, even before the fire, and there are so many wonderful things on the horizon for FBRE. We look forward to many more years of adventure with you all. Thank you, and Happy November 29th!

When you are around the Asheville area or rafting on the French Broad river, don’t forget to visit the Hot Springs Resort and Spa. It is a family run business with outdoor Jacuzzi type hot tubs, that are filled with a continuous flow of the 104 degree natural mineral water. It is a BIG HIT with French Broad Rafting river guides and staff. After a day of rafting, paddling, or hiking there is nothing better than relaxing in the hot mineral water. We highly recommend reservations. While making your reservation for your soak,be sure to make your reservation for a massage or body treatment. They offer Swedish, Deep Tissue, or Hot Stone massages. If you are looking camping or cabins to stay in the Hot Springs Campground is right across the street from the Spa. The Campground has RV hook ups, tent camping, and camping cabins. While you are at the campground make sure get a bite to eat at “Good Eats” located in the campground store. The owners, Martha and Sachie, make great burritos with only fresh ingredients. Hot Springs NC Fireworks on the 4th of July

Hot Springs NC Fireworks at the Hot Springs Resort and Spa

French Broad Rafting Expeditions staff enjoyed a night of great fireworks in Hot Springs NC. The local volunteer fire department put on a great display of fireworks. The Hot Springs Resort and Spa gracioulsy allowed the fireworks to be set up on their property and helped with crowd control. French Broad Rafting Expeditions loaded up a rafting bus with staff and their families and headed down the road to Hot Springs. We set up camp at our float trip-rafting location. The town of Hot Springs was hopping. The best seat in the house was right on top of the deck of the French Broad Rafting bus.

Our hero of the evening was one our bus drivers Mike. He was our designated driver and took care of the clean up when it was time to leave Hot Springs. We hope all of you had a safe Independence Day!

Rafting with Madison County Parks and Recreation

This years trip with Madison County Parks and Recreation was a lot of fun. Madison County Parks and Recreation has a great summer program this summer. Lynn and Hyrum who are in charge of the Madison County Parks and Recreation have set up a lot of activities this year. The kids went to Grandfather Mountain www.grandfather.com in Linville NC last week and for the next few weeks they will be going to Kinser Park www.kinserpark.org in Greeneville TN, and Trolley tours in Asheville NC. All in all Lynn said rafting is the big hit of the summer program. The group of kids were a lot of fun and we can’t wait to see them next year.
