North Carolina truly has something for everyone. From beaches, to mountains and everything in between, there are so many things to do in North Carolina!
Since we are based in Western North Carolina (WNC) we’ll focus on some of the amazing places you can explore in our part of the state.

Downtown Asheville has all the attractions of a much larger city, without losing any of its local charm. Award winning restaurants, eclectic shopping, and a thriving music scene make a trip to downtown Asheville a must for any traveler.
Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 miles of winding road and stunning views that connects the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and Tennessee. If you want to travel the entire parkway, allow 2 – 3 days for frequent stops to enjoy views and to hike trails. The Blue Ridge Parkway is particularly popular during ‘leaf season’ when the autumn leaves are brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows.
Biltmore House and Estate
Take a day to visit America’s largest home! The world famous Biltmore House and Gardens was built by George Vanderbilt in 1895. The house holds many precious pieces of art, and most of the furnishings are original to the house. Biltmore Estate also boasts some of Western North Carolina’s most beautiful gardens and the estate has it’s own winery.
World renowned for its diversity of plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains, and the quality of its remnants of Southern Appalachian mountain culture, this is America’s most visited national park.
Whitewater Rafting and Ziplining
Western North Carolina is a dream for outdoor adventure enthusiasts! Whether its the excitement of whitewater rafting, the thrill of a zip line canopy tour, or the ease and relaxation of a calm water float trip, French Broad Rafting & Ziplines has the perfect outdoor adventure activity for you, your family, or your group.
There are so many waterfalls in Western North Carolina that it’s difficult to choose which are our favorites. Here’s a list of can’t miss waterfalls – but remember to check your map! There’s bound to be a waterfall close to you wherever you are in the mountains.

Turtleback Falls (some people use this as a natural slide)
Grove Park Inn
