French Broad Adventures offers professional certification in commercial whitewater rafting, ziplining and personal whitewater paddle training for better whitewater adventures. We have a full slate of classes for professional guides and whitewater enthusiasts. We teach all courses to meet or exceed American Canoe Association (ACA) and Association for Challenge Course Technologies (ACCT) standards.

Professional Guide Classes
Whitewater Rafting Guide
$376.50 per person
Class I-IV Rapids
The Whitewater Rafting – Paddle course is for those interested in learning the skills required to efficiently and safely paddle a commercial raft on rivers with class I-IV rapids. This course is taught in conjunction with ABTECH-MADISON, and includes advanced river reading, safety considerations, and paddling techniques. Whitewater Rafting Guide training will focus on the fundamentals and skills needed. Learn to read whitewater, use river signals, maneuver, and rig rafts, tie knots, work with guests, and other basic river operations.

Private Whitewater Classes
Rafting – OAR
$350 per person
2 Days of Instruction
ACA Member/Certification ($40 extra)
Class I-III Rapids
The Rafting – OAR course is for individuals interested in learning the skills required to efficiently row a raft on rivers with class I-III rapids. This course includes the basic elements of river reading, safety considerations, and rowing techniques. This course is appropriate for properly outfitted rafts.
ACA Membership/Certification will be for the Level 2 Essentials Rafting-Oar.
Minimum 4 people per class to operate schedule

Rafting – Paddle

The Rafting – Paddle course is for individuals interested in learning the skills required to efficiently paddle a raft on rivers with class I-III rapids. This course includes the basic elements of river reading, safety considerations, and paddling techniques. In addition, the skills required to captain, or guide, a paddle raft will be introduced. This course is appropriate for properly outfitted rafts.
ACA Membership/Certification will be for the Level 2 Essentials Rafting-Paddle.
